The District of Vanderhoof has announced the execution of the Northside Lift Station Project and the Nechako River Forcemain Project, new projects funded under the Northwest B.C. Regional Funding Agreement and initiated by the Northwest Resource Benefits Alliance (RBA).
The program is part of a $250-million, five-year investment designed to upgrade critical community infrastructure, build communities and improve the quality of life for residents across Northwest British Columbia.
“These Critical infrastructural projects are aimed at significantly increasing system capacity and improving long-term service reliability for residents and businesses in the district,” the District said in an Aug. 19 statement.
“These upgrades are a big step forward for our community,” said Kevin Moutray, the mayor of Vanderhoof.
The contractors executing the Sanitary Pump Station Replacement and the Forcemain Installation which will run under the Nechako River are Canadian Western Mechanical and Morben Construction Ltd respectively, with some directional drilling already started in the involved areas.
Currently in progress, the project aims at replacing the current aging infrastructure and increasing the service life ensuring the investment provides reliable benefits well into the future.
This project aligns with the municipality’s Long-Term Asset Management Plan and the broader strategic objectives set out by the NW BC Regional Funding Agreement.
